The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications & Technology (MPTT) is one of the ministries whose mandate is to develop the economy using a number of ICT interventions and initiatives. MPTT is a member of the ministries in the Economic Development Roadmap, which brings together all state institutions working in economic sector. MPTT’s role in developing the ICT sector include:
- Postal Service Re-establishment
Postal service was one of the government services that ceased their operations during the civil war. However, the Ministry re-started the inward postal delivery.
Understanding its importance for the functioning of the public and private sectors, the Ministry has put plan in place to re-establish a full-functioning postal service that can easily Somalia to the rest of the world through mail and parcel delivery.
Plans are now under way in starting the outward postal delivery, which will allow us to:
- Send outgoing mail and parcel easily
- Deliver incoming mail and parcel to their destination
